Blind Heart

Heart and Body

Hearts are Blind

The heart may be sound or sick, or as Allah calls it 'blind'. In Surah Al Hajj Ayah 46, Allah gives this dire warning: "It is not the eyes that are blind, but their hearts which are in their breasts." If the heart is sick or blind, knowledge can produce disastrous results. The blind or sick heart distorts and dislocates knowledge. In order to benefit from knowledge we need a humble, sober, unselfish, attentive and grateful heart.

The blindness of the heart has a peculiarity of its own. It is blind only to what is true and right, but can see all that is false and wrong and take it to be true and right. If the heart is sick or blind, everything goes wrong. Even the most beneficial knowledge proves to be too inadequate, weak and dangerous. The blind heart can create havoc.

What makes heart blind, what makes heart hardened is everyone's everyday life. What are actions, when a person is involved in disobedience of Allah, committing sin, committing haram, without remorse, without repentance, this is sure recipe for blackened heart, hardened heart.
What we consume everyday with all our senses and what goes in our tummy is responsible for "State of Our Heart".

Interest (Giving and Taking - Riba), Using Inheritance without proper distribution, corruption, sources of Haram Income, indulging in haram actions with eyes to everything else. This all consumption together effects our Heart and ultimately our life.

فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَعْمَى الْأَبْصَارُ وَلَٰكِنْ تَعْمَى الْقُلُوبُ الَّتِي فِي الصُّدُورِ

Fainnahā lā ta‘mal-absāru walakin ta‘māl-qulūbul-latī fis-sudūr
Surely it is not the eyes that are blind, but blind are the hearts that are in the chests. (Sūratul Hajj, No.22, Āyat 46)

It is their hearts which failed to recognized and understand the right and wrong. True blindness is blindness of the heart. It is not the lack of sight but rather the lack of insight that makes a person truly blind.
This statement means that it is not physical blindness that prevents a person from seeing the truth, but rather a lack of understanding or a closed mind.
A heart becomes blind when it is overwhelmed by sin, neglect, and a lack of connection with Allah, making it unable to distinguish between right
